As we approach the Labor Day weekend, we want to extend our warmest wishes to you and your family. Please note that all schools will be closed on Monday, September 2nd, in observance of the holiday. We also want to inform you that the Virginia Department of Health has provided our school division with COVID-19 rapid antigen tests at no cost. Next week, each student and staff member will receive a box containing two tests to take home. If you or your child experiences any symptoms of COVID-19 we strongly encourage you to use these tests. Symptoms of COVID-19 include: • Fever or chills • Cough • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing • Sore throat • Congestion or runny nose • Fatigue • Muscle or body aches • Headache • Nausea or vomiting • Diarrhea Please remember to report any positive test results to your child's school nurse. Exciting news! The Waynesboro Education Farm is launching a Student Run Market! 🥕🍅 Join us every Thursday from 3:30-5:00 p.m. in the WHS parking lot on W. Main Street (left of the high school). Starting Thursday, August 29th through October 8th, our students will be selling fresh, locally grown produce. At the August School Board meeting, we heard exciting updates from the Waynesboro Education Farm! The presentation highlighted recent developments, ongoing projects, and the positive impact the farm continues to have on our students and community. We are grateful for the dedication and hard work that makes this initiative such a success!

At the August School Board meeting, CJ Vandevender, Principal at Valley Academy Regional Alternative School, delivered an insightful presentation. Mr. Vandevender provided an overview of the Valley Academy program and introduced the dedicated staff that make a positive impact every day. We’re proud to have such a strong team supporting our students!

Waynesboro Public Schools' Heavy Equipment Operation Licensure Program was recognized at the August school board meeting. The Heavy Equipment Operation Licensure program includes certifications in OSHA 10, Stand Up and Sit Down Forklift certifications. All of the students earned their licenses for Heavy Equipment Operations 1 Level. . Upon completion of the program, students were guaranteed interviews with Waynesboro City, Momentum Earthworks, and M3 Inc. and impressively, each student received at least one job offer The following graduated students successfully completed the program; 🌟Justin Paredes 🌟Genaro Tozcano Hernandez 🌟Isaiah Riedl Dr. India Harris, Director of Secondary Instruction and Ms. Beth Burdick, Waynesboro High School Career Coach, facilitated this program in partnership with Blue Ridge Community College.

The Waynesboro Public School recognized the Waynesboro Education Farm at their August meeting. The Waynesboro Education Farm has implemented a student employment program which employees 11th and 12th grade students to be paid Farm Assistants. Rising 9th and 10th graders are eligible for positions as Junior Farm Assistants. 👩‍🌾🧑‍🌾🥬🍅 The following students participated in the Waynesboro Education Farm Student Employment program: 🌟Kamari Warren - 11th grader, completed the Farm Assistant Program 🌟Caleb Haywood - 9th grader, completed the Junior Farm Assistant Program 🌟Sirron Gunn - 9th grade, also completed the Junior Farm Assistant Program 🌟Dalton Aleshire - 11th grade, Youth Leader in Agriculture with Project GROWS 🌟Gabriel O'Brien - 12th grade, Youth Leader in Agriculture with Project GROWS Dr. India Harris, Director of Secondary Instruction, Mr. Ryan Blosser, Waynesboro Farm Educator, and Ms. Nichole Barrows, Waynesboro High School Agriculture Educator, facilitated this program for Waynesboro High School students.
