Dr. Barber has over twenty-five years of experience working in school divisions across Virginia. He earned his doctorate from Virginia Tech in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies, his Master's degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in Administration and Supervision, and his Elementary Education and Psychology degrees from Radford University. He is proud to work each day to ensure a quality learning and working environment for our students and staff. By actively removing barriers to success, Dr. Barber works to create a vibrant community of learners who are able to reach their fullest potential.

Waynesboro is a small suburban city with a PK-12 student membership of 3,100. There are four elementary schools, one preschool center, one middle school, and one high school. Our school division also coordinates Valley Academy with Augusta County Schools. Valley Academy is our regional alternative education school located in Fishersville, VA.
Waynesboro is located at the base of Afton Mountain with many things to offer its citizens. Harrisonburg and Charlottesville are about a 30-minute drive away.
The Waynesboro School Board strives to provide the safest learning environment for all students. As a condition of employment, the Waynesboro School Board requires all applicants to certify that they have not been convicted of a felony or subject of a founded case of child abuse and neglect. All applicants offered employment shall submit to fingerprinting and provide personal descriptive information, which shall be forwarded through the Central Criminal Records Exchange to the Federal Bureau of Investigation to obtain criminal history records. The personal information of the applicant is also used in a search of the registry of founded complaints of child abuse and neglect maintained by the Department of Social Services. If information is obtained that indicates a person has been either convicted of a felony or is the subject of a founded case of child abuse and neglect, such applicant shall be denied employment or the employment contract shall be dismissed.
