Westwood Hills’ Safety Patrol
At the beginning of the second semester, Westwood Hills Elementary School officially began their Safety Patrol Program. The selection process began during the first semester. Fifth grade students were nominated by the Safety Patrol Committee, consisting of fifth grade teacher Destiny Francisco, math specialist, Kristie Chandler and assistant principal, Heather Craddock. Interested students then completed an application, responded to short essay questions, and obtained teacher recommendations. Congratulations to the twelve fifth graders selected for Westwood Hills’ first Safety Patrol for the 2023-2024 school year.

The Safety Patrol at Westwood Hills has students working within their school building and on the school grounds. They assist the younger students to transition to their afternoon transportation, as well as help with morning transitions. Safety Patrol members will also greet community guests and help with special events such as assemblies and other activities. These students will stand as positive role models for the rest of the student body to model themselves after and demonstrate good citizenship.
