Football Coach

Waynesboro – April 18, 2024 (For immediate release): Waynesboro Public Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Jamara “Shonn” Bell, Sr. as the new Head Football Coach for Waynesboro High School. Following a comprehensive selection process, Coach Bell emerged as the ideal candidate to lead our football program into the future.

Bringing a wealth of experience both as a player and coach, Coach Bell's impressive background includes stints with various esteemed football organizations, including the University of Virginia at Wise, several National Football League teams, and numerous other professional and semi-professional leagues. His extensive tenure in the sport has equipped him with invaluable insights and a deep understanding of the game.

Coach Bell's coaching career spans fourteen years, during which he has excelled in varsity football and track. Renowned for his expertise in coaching tight ends, wide receivers, and track and field events such as the long jump, triple jump, high jump, and shot/discus, Coach Bell is recognized for his dedication, enthusiasm, and unwavering commitment to his players' development.

Dr. Jeffrey Cassell, Superintendent of Waynesboro Public Schools, expressed his confidence in Coach Bell's ability to uphold the high standards set by his predecessors, emphasizing Coach Bell's strategic vision for fostering relationships, setting lofty expectations, and building upon the foundation established by the former coach, Brandon Jarvis.

Waynesboro’s Athletic and Activities Director, Jake Peeling, shared, “Coach Bell will be a great asset for WHS and Waynesboro Public Schools. He is someone I think can inspire our athletes to greatness, instill discipline, and foster a culture of teamwork and resilience. He is not just a football coach but someone who possesses the ability to cultivate character, both on and off the field."
