Dr. Jeffrey Cassell has more than 30 years of experience in public education. Prior to becoming Superintendent for Waynesboro Public Schools, he served in various roles in Smyth County Public Schools in Virginia. Dr. Cassell began his career in Smyth County as a high school math, science, and technology teacher, followed by teaching middle school math and technology.
Dr. Cassell’s administrative experience includes service as elementary principal, Director of Finance and Operations and Assistant Superintendent. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Emory and Henry College and a Master of Arts in Education from Virginia Tech. He completed coursework for an endorsement in administration and supervision through University of Virginia and earned a Doctorate of Education from East Tennessee State University.
